How much difference is there between a Canyon superbike with the latest Shimano Dura Ace R9170 Hydraulic groupset, and a bike bought from Ebay for £90?

Matt and Si compete in four challenges: climbing, descending, braking, and time trialling, to see how big the difference is between the two bikes.

Although the differences are pretty big between the two bikes, its not to say that you can’t have a great time on a cheaper bike.

  1. why are they wearing a cod piece under their tights? I am thinking of getting a bike but no way would I step out side wearing Lycra and a jock strap. A pair of shorts and a T-Shirt would suffice.

  2. States the importance of having good brake pads, does not change out $10 pads.

  3. All of driver

  4. That cheap bike is already the holy grail type of bike here in the Philippines, Hope cycling is not for the rich sport

  5. ian luigi Lastra March 19, 2021 @ 10:37 pm

  6. Compare a super bike vs a cheap used old one?

  7. couple months ago i rode a single speed bicycle that i used to have around 40 miles and i am 66 years old and retired

  8. Christopher Bowles March 19, 2021 @ 10:42 pm

you should do a cheap vs midrange. cause most of us are on a midrange.

  9. I wish i have rb😭

  10. 90 quid for a Raleigh? I dun believe it lol …. in Malaysia the cheapest (maybe imitation even) would be around 1K Malaysian ringgit (same amount in pounds or dollars considering " regional purchasing power")

  11. When I want to ride fast… I ride my motorcycle. When I want to workout, I ride my bicycle.

  12. The Wonderful Mr B March 19, 2021 @ 10:45 pm

Just something nice about enjoying an old British made classic and saving it from the skip.

  13. New super bike with hyrdoric vs old ebay bike comparision is unfaire, they should have also picked a new cheap bike with disc brakes.

  14. Emerson Rogério March 19, 2021 @ 10:47 pm

it would be better to design a way to make this test a blind one

  15. cheap or superbikes cyclist is a cyclist

  16. My two favourite things in life are library and bicycle. They both move people forward without wasting anything.

    👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

  18. Why do you have to dress like a dickhead to ride a bicycle?

  19. 10% fater 500% price over… no have sense. If u try a decent bike with 105 simano or red sram… the difference maybe its 2% ..

  20. How much was the Canyon bike ?

  21. Bruh, My Bike is way smaller and it’s a BMX it it weighs 18kg.

  22. Worth noting going faster increases severity of injury. Disc brakes are definitely a good buy though. If cycling for exercise/fitness having to work harder does you more good. But disc brakes will still keep you safer. Thanks for showing that clearly 😊

  23. 1. Is that Cheddar gorge?
    2. How would you rate the Cannondale synapse?

  24. I just borowing my grandpa’s old Road Bike with 19 steel kilo frame, Now I gonna buy the 500$ bike which is the kespor ultimate aero

  25. When I started with racebikes almost 20 years ago, it was on a Peugeot Aspin 14 with downtube shifters (Shimano 105) and 20mm tyres. A true classic. I purchased it in a relatively worn out shape on eBay and restored it. AFAIK it was a steel frame, but despite its shortcomings, I loved that beast to bits. Climbing hills out of the saddle using big gears make it bend like rubber (I weigh around 100 kgs @ 1,96m) and it felt a bit wobbly over 65 km/h in descends. Nevertheless it was great fun riding it. An accident separated us after 4 years.
After that, in Jan 2007, I bought a new Cannondale CAAD5 105 (2×10) with WHR 550 wheels. I had no idea then how different a bike could possibly feel. It is extremely stiff, lightweight (8.7 kgs with a 63cm frame) and very stable in fast descends. Over 75-80 km/h it feels a bit nervous but I’m not quite sure if that’s just me or the bike. The wheels are OK but certinly not Shimano’s finest. I still have it to this day even though I ride much less these days. I don’t think I’ll ever sell it. It’s a real beauty in red with its black wheels. Sometimes I just look at it with a smile on my face… 🙂

  35. i ride a Giant Brownstone 7 speed and i can ride it up almost any hill but i really miss my 21 speed schwinn that i used to have but this is the best bicycle i have ever owned and got it at a thrift shop for $30.00 and it is like brand new 🙂 and i put a $64.00 brand new Wald basket on the front and a rack on the back to put my backpack and a small basket on the rear for extra grocery hauling

  36. Patthon Sirilim March 19, 2021 @ 11:13 pm

decent alu or carbon frame decent wheels and the latest 105 group set anything more make no difference unless your Chris froome attacking a hill stage.

  37. Components quality, ergonomics, tires pressure, biker weight and trainning (and sleep, hidration, nutrición), are far more important than frame material and weight and brand.

  38. Anders Hallberg March 19, 2021 @ 11:16 pm

This is fraud! You are comparing an OLD bike to a MODERN bike. The correct way would have been to compare an expensive bike with Shimanos most expensive group brakes and a cheap bike with their modern budget brakes. Anything else is comparing apples with pears.

  39. JAVIER, JOHN REX P. March 19, 2021 @ 11:17 pm

Please give me a roadbike cheapest

  45. I really enjoyed this video. It goes to show that an entry level or older bike can work quite well for most casual indoor trainer (Zwift) setups, which is great for budget minded riders. Cheers from Texas!

  46. If you feel like giving away a bike I’ll take one 🙏

  47. pinatikay jud Official March 19, 2021 @ 11:28 pm

Sakin nalang yang cheap bike nayan hehehe 😅

  48. You could used a new 500 dollar bike the difference would be negligible

  49. No rider change cannot be justified

  50. Godfrey Ian Aguila March 19, 2021 @ 11:32 pm

What if you update the cheap bike and try its performance and match the price if its worth to buy and expensive bike or just updat the cheap bike and see if the perfomace is similar
