  7. why is uk suck a kill joy in US its like 700w in good old uk 200w and no throttle wtf harm can you do on a bicycle wankers why is uk always so fucking gay intent on making everything miserable. I lost my driving license that was clean for 11 years for undertaking wankers going 40 in the overtaking lane of a dual carrigeway and now I cant even get a fast bicycle tossers, meanwhile mug a granny and you get a slap on the wrist

  9. He makes a good point. This is why I ordered my e-bike parts from the states. The 15 mph restriction is an utter nonsense, it should be at least 20mph/350w MINIMUM. Not to mention the fact that there’s nothing illegal about using 1kw of motor power on private property as long as you have permission, and with our restrictions it’s hard to buy such a bike in the country.

    Because then you’d need a license. As far as I know, there’s nothing stopping you getting an electric scooter. Because in the UK there are a reasonable number of people who ride bicycles for commutes, clearly the public (yes, people WALK in this country) would not want people riding such heavy machines at high speeds in pedestrian areas. We don’t want any legislation that would RESTRICT the freedom to ride a normal bicycle. FYI, 60 lbs = < 30kg.

  12. plus weight is overrated. The battery weight is gonna be less than 5% of the total weight on the bike once I’m seated on it 馃槢 On the flat there will be no difference. Uphills will be infinitesimally more difficult – but mitigated by the motor, obviously, and downhill freewheeling will be a tad faster.

  13. Too big and bulky? Nah. Lead acid are, for sure, but LiPo have much better density – 48v/10 ah I ordered can fit inside a typical Topeak pannier bag and weighs about 4 kilograms. It can drive motors up to around 550w with ease.

    The range will be reasonable for my needs – with pedalling easily around 20-30 miles depending on how much I pedal.

  15. Oh, as an ebike rider here in the States, I’d love to ride in Europe with their SILLY 250watt/15mph limit….NOT.

    It’s just so much more enjoyable with 1,000 watts of optional juice, to ride up that same hill going 25mph (40kmh) on a bike weighing 60+ lbs (132 kg).

    Why do you tolerate such restrictions on freedom?
