Gocycle GX Review – $3.3k

Gocycle GX Review – $3.3k

https://electricbikereview.com/gocycle/gx/ The Gocycle GX is a fully featured, lightweight, and unique design from the ground up folding electric bike from a company known for innovation and engineering, one of the sleekest and exotic folding bikes out there, a real head turner and joy to ride. Mechanically, the bike makes use of a Shimano Nexus 3 speed internally geared hub, this is operated by a smooth grip shift on the right handlebar, the “clean drive” system is reliable and pretty well protected, for brakes you get a 140mm hydraulic disc brake setup in both the front and rear. Driving the bike is a powerful front hub rated for 500 watts nominal and 750 watts peak, this is engaged by using either the little thumb throttle hidden in the handlebar or by the torque based pedal assist system, powering the bike is a 21.6V 13.34ah battery that fits neatly into the downtube. Other Gocycle models make slightly better use of the frame, a smart phone acting as your display may leave some wishing for a protected option, seat and pedaling on the active side so it may not be for leisure cruisers, riding profile is offset ever so slightly with low air volume, useful accessories cost extra. 1. This is so expensive, it will be $4,000 in Canada. Another money grab!!!

  2. Could buy 7 electric vehicles from China for the price

  3. Benjie Boy Sibal December 7, 2020 @ 8:46 pm

    I wish i have an ebike 😢

  4. I think for a lightweight magnesium bike, that’s a good price! I’d just like a small display. Like the ones from BH

  5. Good review Mikey, interesting bike!

  6. It’s expensive but considering the engineering and design, I wouldn’t call it overpriced.

  7. This one reminds me a lot my current ebike the xiaomi qicycle

  8. Too expensive

  9. I’m totally thinking about buying a GoCycle, and this was a super great review. Thank you so much.

  10. I bought one. Like many of your have said, it’s expensive, not that well made, looks nice, for the price you can buy this and that other ebike etc. For me, it fits in the trunk of my 2 seater convertible, the gears and chain are enclosed so it doesn’t dirty my clothes or hands when I put in and take it out of my car, it’s not heavy for me and minimize the risk of back injury, it folds and unfolds easily, when folded, it’s not awkward to move around at all. I agree the bike itself as an ebike that you just ride around, you would be a fool to pay this much. But, I’m ok to pay that premium in order for me to take it wherever I want to ride . Everyone has different priorities, this bike isn’t for everyone. Lastly, I’ve been stopped by ppl on the street/bike trail, telling me how good the bike looks. No one has yet said it’s ugly.

  11. Hellenback: please don’t be negative or critical Until You See One In Person AND Ride One. THEN Report Back To Us. I loved the GS last November at Race Pace in Towson (Baltimore), Maryland. WOW !

  12. Has anyone ridden Brompton E-bike to compare the two, please? For a city commute and a bit of fun at the weekends etc. can not decide which to go for. Has to fold.

  13. Some dumb hipster will buy this attempting to be "ironic" not realizing a small car, annual Uber, or public transport will cost him less

  14. I really enjoyed your review. Thank you. Now to test ride one of these bad boys..

  15. Way overpriced for what’s available now, looks like a maintenance nightmare, uncomfortable and a poor design!

  16. You can get a Haibike Sduro trekking 7.0 with a Bosch motor , good Shimano parts, a rack and loaded for 3k…
Why would you pay 3300 for that weird looking half bike?

  17. I own this bike, yes it’s expensive but I’ve done over 2000 commuter miles on it so far and it still looks brand new. I live in London so you don’t want to leave an e-bike chained to a lamp post (it will be stolen). The fact that this folds and sits under my desk at work is perfect. It’s small, light, compact and gets me from North to South London every day in about 15 minutes (no shower needed at the end). I expect this bike will last for many years and will easily pay for its self vs taxis or public transport.

  18. No comments about hill performance and range.

  19. Your video is too long

  20. "Actually" a thorough review.

  21. So everything is basically neat and pretty cool right?

  22. So the steering ‘pulls’ to one side because the wheel is eccentric and has only one support member? Hmm.. that’s not very good, is It?

  23. Brandon Bakhtiar December 7, 2020 @ 9:06 pm

Mike do you sell advice? I am spending so much time reading about batteries and watching reviews etc that I am now at a point where I would pay a reasonable amount to have someone knowledgeable hear my needs and make recommendations and give input. Is that possible?

  24. $3.3k lmfao😂

  25. Great job! I was really wondering about this bike.

  26. What’s with the excessive and I mean really excessive hand movements.
    Don’t like this reviewer .
    Why?
To sum it up: Not believable.
And he’s annoying which is exaggerated with all the hand movements and pointing at this and that.
Just telling it like it is.
Court is the man, although he has a lot of hand activity but somewhat tolerable/useful.
You’ve welcome, someone had to type it as I’m positive there are a lot of other viewers with similar observations/opinions.
PS: I could only watch 3:45 of this excessively long 35 minute presentation.

  27. 3k are you serious???……" A fool and his money are easily parted"

  28. What a rip off, surprised they send you the pedals and the handlebar.

  29. Top notch review,thankyou.

  30. Simon Taylor-Kielty December 7, 2020 @ 9:15 pm

Great review. Going to Andy Schleck’s bike shop in Luxembourg tomorrow to look at buying one.

  31. you did a great job of introducing this bike to the public,WELL DONE.

  32. Hell no! For $3300 that thing better lay golden eggs every year at Christmas!
*Edit* I would like to add…
This is one of those way over priced items you found in the Sharper Image catalog that’s really cool looking but doesn’t do anything special.

  33. You can buy a car where I live with that kind of money so I really don’t care if it has a great design. It has a great design though.

  34. This is not a cheap bike and for the price mud guards & lights should be expected! I’m not a fan of using my expensive mobile phone as a bike computer either as Gocycle and other ebike manufacturers seem to think this is ok? It has a limited battery range, in all other areas it shows what can be achieved, but I’m afraid the high price is a deal breaker.

  35. This or Brompton Electric. And no mudguards, really?

  36. very nice bike but NOT worth $3.3K even if gold plated.

  37. Serhat Cakmakoglu December 7, 2020 @ 9:22 pm

Hi there, what about the range

  38. cool looking bike

  39. ONLY 3 SPEEDS AND TOO EXPENSIVE

  40. Kinda, kinda, kinda, kinda, kinda, kinda.

  41. Good review

  42. It is a nice bike but the ride looks very nervous.

  43. Is that Las Vegas in the background? 🙂

  44. I’ll take a guess why most seats are not angled that much back as they rise. Many riders like full leg extension but don’t want full forward body extension preferring it more upright.

  45. How about himo z20. The design and quality may not as good as Gocycle, but much cheaper.

    https://en.xiaomitoday.it/xiaomi-himo-z20-e-la-nuova-bici-elettrica-pieghevole-che-promette-autonomia-fino-a-80-km.html

  46. Anybody know of a folding e-bike that is under 45 pounds and $1,500 that also has suspension?

  47. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🚴‍♂️

  48. Cost is too much for a folding bike . The only plus thing i can see is you can change tire or tube without taking the wheel off 🙂

  49. What kind of helmet are you wearing in the review? Looks good!
