I know you are a trail rider and understand why your review is geared to using the ebike for trails.
The weight distribution on a street bike is usually too much weight on the rear wheel. A front hub actually helps with the distribution.
Here’s a mid-drive motor ebike with a powerful front hub motor both running off the same 52v 21Ah battery. Two wheel drive baby!… With regenerative braking https://youtu.be/YR93_jBm53E
For hub motors don’t forget the upgraded puncture resistant tires(those hubs and batteries are heavy)and a good torque arm for the hub motor wheel. Those are both MUST haves if you’re building the bike yourself.
I have ebike rear hub motor. But i like to improve power on the bike, i gonna install bafang mid drive motor i like have you opinion about because I don wanna burning the rear hub motor, you think they can work together.
I am in the market to buy a CONVERSION kit for my current non-electric bike. I am hesitating between a Mid Drive o a Wheel Hub. What would you guys recommend?? ( this is 3 years later, things may have changed).
I am fine with both a throttle and a pedal assist… I used to ride motorcycles so a throttle is not unfamiliar territory for me… It would be fine.
you didn’t mention that hub drive motors tend to burn out much faster and also tend to work the spokes loose for the wheel you attach them to…you can fix a chain on the side of the road but good luck with a ruined rim.
Hi, steep cliffs, are mid drives better than hub drives for steep cliffs. I have to go through cliffs that do not have pavement to get home and i have been dealing with trouble with my hub drive to get home. Overheating. The shop people told me I had to get off and walk through some of them. Whats your intake on these issues?
Can you get a mid drive e-bike and then buy one of those front hub motors to get the best of both worlds? Double battery, redundancy movement in case you break a chain.
hub drive wins if your chain pop out you can still ride the bike and if your talking about the weight should be in the middle, just put your self in the middle you be alright..
Myself I have to a three wheel bike (do to medical conditions) with or without solar battery power? O and I may be moving to Michigan. So any help you can give me, I will truly appreciate. 🙂
You said you used a rear hub for your commuting fairly long urban distances. Do you still recommend that? Which rear hub bike did you use in your commuting in this video? I am considering getting a BH NITRO 29 PRO… any thoughts on this bike?
Mid drive and belt drive is the way to go
Most mid-drive bike also have a throttle. Will a mid-drive still break a chain when in the lowest gear?

hello what do you recommend from the motor to buy a bafang 250w or 500w place with a lot of uphills and 115 kg weigh
wouldn’t a belt make sense for that instead of a chain?
Who care about cycling. I am working in uber eat have to 100km a day each day.
Could you put one in front and of in the back at the same time? Would even the weight out
I like my NCM hub drive very much
Nice video. Thank you.

Can hub drive actually be installed on both rear anf front wheels right?
It’s funny to see at 3:42 someone riding with the kickstand down…
You show a sweat shop making the motors? Disgusting, I don’t want one, I don’t want you to be able to buy one. Psychopaths
Hi,i accept hub motor only if its wattage more than 10.000 W.and top speed at 80-100 m/h.
comprehensive and classy … good stuff.
Middrive motors are best for climbing
Woohoo! This video hit over 1.5 MILLION views!
Mid drives are overpriced crap!
So it is true that for a cruiser-type bike with no gears, a front hub motor would be better?

Can you make a Bike with hub and mid-drive motor?

thanks nobody has done videos on these issues
blablabla meter 1000000
you can enjoy the advantage of using your gears in mid drive configuration. it will be more efficient
You should have mentioned belt drives (more durable than chains for mid drive motors) and gears for both mid drive and hub motors
Can iget a bigger motor for my raycon hyper flight to make it go a little faster????
With a mid drive motor, do you have to pedal the whole time?
Glad I watched this video!
just supported your channel

Thank you all for your unconditional support!

There is nothing preventing you from installing both on a bike.
For those who want regenerative braking it s only possible with hub motors
Fix your audio spikes.
Mid drive seems neat but give it a throttle and it would be better
so just keep a $15 chain with u!

Has there any ebike conversion mod did both type in their bikes ie hub + mid drive in one biie??
Wait, so no coasting on throttle with mid drives???
Awesome!!Thanks for your video.helps me get a better understanding of my new ebike. It is with 750 Watt high-speed motor!!
But should i buy brushless hub wheel or brushed??
Myself I have to a three wheel bike (do to medical conditions) with or without solar battery power? O and I may be moving to Michigan. So any help you can give me, I will truly appreciate. 🙂
He did not mention torque. Mid drive v hub with same wattage produces alot more torque… Around double. And gearing not really mentioned.
