Moustache Samedi 27 Xroad 5 Review – $4.6k Premium Dual Sport Electric Bike

Moustache Samedi 27 Xroad 5 Review – $4.6k Premium Dual Sport Electric Bike The Moustache Samedi 27 Xroad 5 is a premium hardtail crossover electric bike that’s capable on road, gravel, and light mountain trails. Reinforced triple cavity downtube, tubular aluminum alloy fenders, and strategically mounted lights hold up to bumpy conditions. Adjustable suspension fork and suspension seat post pair nicely with the swept-back “mustache” style handlebar. Battery and frame lock are keyed alike to reduce clutter and effort. High attention to detail with custom black rims matching the hubs, spokes, and nipples. Bottle cage bosses below the downtube put fluids within reach, basic flick bell included on right. Custom rear rack is compatible with Basil MIK system on top and Ortlieb QL3 system on the sides. It connects to the fender in two places for added strength, and is positioned forward from the saddle to create plenty of cargo space. Top of the line Bosch PowerTube 625 battery pack provides incredible range, and can be charged on or off the bike. The Performance Line motor blends power, efficiency, and low noise perfectly. It offers shift detection, high pedal RPM support, and up to 65 newton meters of torque for capable climbing. Sturdy drivetrain with slap guard, aluminum alloy chain guard, and full-coverage plastic chain cover to keep your pants or dress clean. Removable Bosch Intuvia display is one of my favorites because it’s easy to read, offers Micro-USB charging, and provides lots of readouts. Lots of gears with an extra wide 11-42 tooth cassette, premium Shimano SLX derailleur, and two-way trigger shifter that work great for climbing off-road of finding a perfect cadence on long rides. Capable Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are reliable and easy to actuate. Plastic battery cover does not lock to the frame, charging port is in the path of the left crank arm, battery locking design is a bit finicky. More expensive and heavier than past Xroad 5 models I’ve reviewed.

  1. This is a nice bike…. but the price….. I may be wrong but I think you’ll see fewer views on videos where you -rightfully- post the (steep) price in the title. It’s just difficult to see the value in a bike like this. At this price point, the engineering and ergonomics should be off the hook. I started the video… but quickly skipped to the motor overview and Ride test. Then went to the website and I wasn’t really wowed. It looks like they use lots of off-the-shelf parts. I have commented on it before….. e-bikes are going to have a difficult time going mainstream with expensive boutique bikes like this.

  2. Value? For almost $5,000.00? I would expect all these things plus another motor in the front and another battery of maybe greater capacity. I won’t finish watching this. They probably don’t sell a frame for a 5′ person.

  3. Its a really good looking bike but like most euro bikes its a little over priced for what it can do unless you live in Europe. The full suspension model looked gorgeous hope to see a review of that! Hopefully one day US sales will be large enough to warrant some America specific motors from Bosch that really take advantage of our 750watt limit then I would be more likely to throw down some cash!

Unless they have restricted the models in the states, the xroad5 is not the highest model in the xroad series, it’s the 7. Also, the next model down is the xroad 3, not the 2. Another great review though I love the Moustache’s

  5. Pls do some more mouchtache bike reviews, Like the Friday 28.5 city bike .

  6. I guess I’m just a tightwad.J.Q.

  7. The crank arms seem shorter than 160mm which really to me is important

  8. There seems to be a mismatch between the given price and the tested bike: the bike is a 2020 Xroad 5 (I nearly bought one with open frame) which had a price around 3700 Euros in France, but the given price is for 2021 Xroad 7 (4500 Euros in France) which switches colors with Xroad 5 (which becomes red). The 2021 Xroad 5 now cost 200 Euros more (3900 Euros), but has better motor (CX); and there is no more full open frame for this model.

  9. Moustache sells reasonable priced bikes as well. The Moustache Samedi 28.1 2020 cost in Europe 2368 dollar, 400 watt battery in the middle. Bosch Active Line. That is what I call a reasonable price for an e-bike with a Bosch middle motor.

  10. One thing I learned after owning a few (traditional/e-bike) bicycles is, it’s so easy to overspend on components you don’t really need. $5k? Yikes.

  11. Lovely bike – perfect commuter. Saddle comfort is always a tricky one (one size does not fit all). Sole gripe is the cafe lock is on top of the seat stays which makes it easier to bust open with a hammer — Putting it beneath the stays makes for a tougher swing. Those are some seriously good fenders.

  12. Really powerfull bike. It’s a bold move against the cars .

Nice bike, well appointed with quality components. It’s heavy but it could be worse. Viva la Moustache!

  14. a heartfelt thank you to you bro! first time in my life I came to know that i can shift 2 gears down with only one push! what a great function ! best thing after slice bread !

  15. Nice bike, absurd price.

  16. I don’t get this at all. Too expensive….just a custom frame?, and bolt on’s? 4,599.00$?? WHY?

EBR is one of the reasons why I bought a Moustache bike, amazing ride, keep up the great work,Michael from Mississauga Canada.

  18. Very good review

To me it looks like they nailed it 💪 very nice bike for city and semi-offroad … bike
    Great review as usual

  21. Great bike, great price.
Thanks for the video, stay safe ✌️

  22. Still representing the American dream 🖐️👍

  23. $4.5K with no throttle, expensive and built for Europe. However, If you live in a city, suburb and your commute to work is short, Pedelec only is fine, it’s way cheaper than a good used car, save money on gas, insurance, get exercise and good for Mother Earth.

  24. I was wondering if you can try to make a video on the best or some good puncture resistant tires?

  25. love your reviews. Thank you.

  26. great review and great color.

  27. Anyone think itd be possible to go for like 12 – 14 hours on a charge on 625wh? Whats the longest you could go with yhe 625?
Otherwise i think double battery bikes it is… its just the 625wh version of these bikes are tempting

  28. It’s very expensive

  29. The king has no clothes. you are trying to persuade your viewers that a hard tail is comfortable! it’s not! full suspension is. Your warbling voice gives away how much your body is being jolted around.

  30. Question; what happened to the 6′ 2" guy? Also, you often point out issues with things then you praise the same very item. For instance, you complain about the seat, then in the same breath you praise it. The same with almost all your reviews. Gotta wonder if your complaints should be well considered or if your praises are just to appease the loaner.
