Robert electrifies his bike with SWYTCH's conversion kit | 100% Independent, 100% Electric

The Swytch conversion kit can transform any pedal bike into an electric assist bike and they kindly gave one to Robert to help him face his cycling nemesis – Salter’s Lane! The kit is easy to use and the simple system will double the power of your existing bike. Could these kits be the answer to getting more people to use the bikes they already have? And more importantly – will Robert make it up the hill? For ease of reference, use the *timestamps* below.

  1. Not a good advert for this very expensive kit. Pedal assist should have made it a breeze for even an overweight old man to get up a hill otherwise it’s just not worth the bother or expense.

  2. This is a NO BRAINER. I have a Trek mountain bike that I love, but I don’t ride it as much as I did. I am IN for the pre order!

  3. Gees Louise Robert! I think you need to sweep out your garage! When that box dropped down I saw the level of dirt and dust fly up! Love from Australia

  4. 12 weeks delivery? Utter lie. I ordered mine in May and I’m still waiting!

  5. Similar logo

  6. With so much amazing electric bike tech out there why do shows such a fully charged get the pants pulled down by these shitty startups. Glad to see people in the comments know what’s really going on.

  7. £1000 for a tiny motor and tiny battery, crazy, worth £99 max.

  8. you can buy the wheels generally off eBay with the whole kit with brakes control unit and throttle and crank sensor £150 and the battery is £129 its what i did about a year ago to my 15 year old bike…it works fine never had a problem…..£999 is a bit overpriced!!

  9. 8:35 250 Wh will take you a mile in a Tesla Model 3.

  10. "10-12 weeks to manufacture". He meant "10-12 weeks for it to be drop shipped from China on the slow boat".

Over priced beyond taking the pi$$.

  11. Ordered in 2019. Hidden import chargers (170). Every promise broken. Hundreds more like me. Wish i ordered another kit from somewhere else.

  12. Money for old rope. Good for them if people are paying for this kit. On your bike mate!

  14. Only a moron would buy this, at that price, should be half at most.

  15. I have a Swytch kit I pre-ordered. Total cost was around £490. Took over 5 months from order to delivery. Some of their marketing is a bit dodgy, bordering on untruthful, and why does the customer have to pay import duty when it’s them doing the importing?? The kit is decent, but not exceptional, quality. And the performance is also reasonable. The great thing for me is being able to quickly swap the kit out and electrify more than one bike. Also, once the battery is unclipped, there’s not a massive weight penalty, should you wish to use the bike as normal. If neither of these things are important to you, IMHO go for a normal hub kit from China…cheaper, faster, longer-lasting battery.

  16. Where i can buy that long bike

  17. Other conversion kits are WAAAAY cheaper.

  18. Bradley Emmerson February 7, 2021 @ 8:29 pm

    Ridiculously over priced!….

  19. The wonderful people from Swytch bike. Is he having a laugh, terrible customer service, they ignore all your emails, then slap import duty onto the total cost. Scammers

  20. ahaaaaa haaaaa he was out of breath even with the swytch. ahaaaa def didnt help that much , def not worth it if cant go up hill without loosing breath afterwards..looks like it was def hard work ahaaaaaaaaaaaa

  21. You can get a hole electric bike for that amount of money you can not get very far on it the wheels do not Mach literally every other electric bike on the market is better than this rip off.

  22. Well that’s a no brainer, £999, that’s £500 more than I paid for my car, and the bike i have is a 70’s shopper bike I bought for £70 , complete with dynamo and three speed sturmey archer lol.

  23. Michael Crumpton February 7, 2021 @ 8:37 pm

1,305.35 United States Dollars!!! You can buy a whole ebike with nice specs for that much. You can get a similar wheel kit from alibaba for about ⅓ of $1305 .

  24. What is that low rider style bike ?

  25. I would not buy this kit, I have been waiting a year for mine and despite many assurances and £500 plus, I have nothing!!!!! 🙂

  26. You seemed very winded at the top @fullycharged.
    What level did you use?
Could you have used a higher level to have the swytch do more of the work and have been less winded?

  27. According to the owners Facebook page waiting time after order can be 3 to 6 months . The cost quoted on the video is preorder £500 or £900 , preorder currently is 50% and with survey an additional £25 of which should be £425 . But what they don’t mention on top of these prices is Custom charges, handling , and vat. If you live out side Uk there now be extra prices relating to Brexit. They currently have two versions ECO and Pro, difference according to Swytch is range and the cost for more range is approximately £150 pounds more. This single wheel plus extras could end up costing you more than a whole new modern light weight ebike from a well known high street shop. Then you have to do the conversion yourself.

  28. Bafang forever, hub motors must die!

  29. 0.25kwh in the most efficient electric car will take you about 1 mile I think? I think in the video Robert you suggests only 250m?

  30. No thanks, much more affordable kits on AliExpress & Amazon

  31. I’d like to see something for a recumbent bike. Going over the handlebars was fun and games when I was a kid, don’t want to try it again.
Robert needs a Kryten full helmet!

  32. for the high price one would assume it would be alot easier to go up hill! I have one artery left and so I cannot exert myself like that or I will croak, is there a more powerful battery?

  33. A grand? Surely taking the piss?

  34. Too expensive £499 from £999 no thanks

  35. £900! No point better off buying ebike or some ebike shops can convert your bike for £400 includes fitting in that price

  36. 🤣🤣🤣 fxxx off £900

  37. How much was the kit

  38. Ripoff not worth more than £200.
Max battery is 250WH which lasts one hour.

My LaPierre battery gives me 70 miles. Which is 4hrs & 40 minutes.
My LaPierre is £2,700 for a complete bicycle & it has hydraulic disc brakes, alloy frame, mid drive bosch motor, 70 mile range battery, 28 1/2 inch alloy wheels, front suspension, front & rear fixed lights, walk mode, eco, touring, sport & turbo modes.
Range, battery level, speed, distance with large backlit waterproof display computer, battery charges in 2 hrs from flat. Full mudguards, chain guard, bosch charger, really comfortable seat. Quick release wheels. Battery in frame 50%.
This bike will last me a lifetime.

  39. I subscribed to emails all i wanted to know was price at over £900 pounds I mite as well buy a complete bike. I was hopping it would be cheaper option.

  40. Or just get a bike motor kit for 30 bucks off of eBay… And start the motor at the hill start…. Job done

  41. this company cannot fulfill orders. after 6 months of broken promises I canceled my order, and 10 days later still await a refund, go elsewhere

  42. You lost me at £999

  43. Graham Rutherford February 7, 2021 @ 9:00 pm

No mention of regen. That’s a shame!

  44. The product is a well marketed gimmick. That 2500-3500mah battery at 250watts is pathetic. As soon as i saw the battery capacity and output, i knew it was shit.

  45. How much are they ?

  46. Nice one Bobby was wondering if was any good.

  47. I ordered my Swytch kit in May. It is now past mid November and it has not yet arrived. The Swytch folks are long on building promise and short on delivering actual product. I would never order from them again. A poorly run e bike player.

  48. For a Thousand quid I can sell you a fantastic innovation 100% eco friendly, Zero emissions ,carbon neutral, no mega electric bill.its so simple,it runs entirely from the kinetic motion of your legs.Send me £999.99 for your "Twyts conversion kit" no waiting time because there`s nothing to send, just get on your bike and ride it.; )

  49. This is like Top Gear for electric bikes

  50. To put it bluntly , its overpriced crap..
