Snowy E-bike Review – 2020 Electra Townie Go 7D Electric Cruiser

Snowy E-bike Review – 2020 Electra Townie Go 7D Electric Cruiser

It was a snowy day, but an excellent bike to take a look at. Sorry for the poor audio in this one, the conditions and setup were not ideal.

The Electra Townie Go 7d is a great entry-level e-bike with Hydrive’s hub and battery system. This bike also manages to be one of the least expensive significant manufacturers ‘ e-bike and does so feeling like a very nice bike. This has a smaller capacity battery, but that matches up well with the type of riding this bike will be used for.

  1. Just bought this bike. 100% recommend! Such a pleasure to ride. Everything works perfectly. Even with the power OFF it is easy to ride!

  2. Bought this bike one month ago. Looked over many overseas to local e-bikes, but didn’t like issues os assembly and warranty. Very reasonable price and Trek bought out Townie and therefore under their umbrella. I also have a knee that have been replaced. My issue was mountain inclines on my Townie Electra bike I bought 15 years ago. With the e-bike, the effort is a lot easier yet getting exercise. Seat location gives it an A plus as well.

  3. Any Idea how long the Battery will last Life and how much to replace Nice video thinking about buying one Not a bad price compared to a lot of others.

I recently bought one and enjoy it very much. Thanks for the review. One of the few I could find. Have you thought of doing a review of this bike after a year to see how it holds up?

As I get older, I am finding that I can no longer make it up hills. Would this bike enable an older man bike up hill?

  6. Bought this guy last month and it’s handled my 18mi round trip commute perfectly. I did a 35mi round trip yesterday and only used 1 battery bar. The first level of power really helps cancel-out the weight and makes cruising easy but still a workout. It’s a great bike.

  7. Thanks for this video! I recently bought an Electra Townie Go! 7D electric bike, but lost the owner’s manual before my first ride. This was super helpful!

  8. What!?!?!? Jamestheelectricbikeguy???? Townies are pretty cool. I like the clean look with the battery on the back. I just don’t like the cheap twister though.
What?!?!? A test ride? JTBG is stepping up his game! Great review, but for the money I’d be a RadRover guy.

I bought this last month. It’s my first e-bike, and I’m seriously loving how much easier it is to ride a peddle assist bike. The 7D is comparatively affordable. At its highest peddle assist, I would say the battery wouldn’t last past 30 miles. The furthest I’ve ridden so far is 10 miles. I plan to do 20. I like how quiet the bike is, and I especially like boost I get when I start peddling after a stop. The 7D is not most stylish bike, but it’s good for the price.

  10. What I like about this bike is that it reasonably priced and sold at local bike shops. I worry about all the direct to consumer bikes where there is no assurance of proper assembly or adjustment. I wish it had a better controller on the handlebar.

  11. Is it possible to add a throttle I’m still new and I’m in the market right now trying to find an e-bike for me however it’s also on a wait list after I get caught up on my electricity

  12. Do you think this could go up a Rocky path or trail? Not sure if the loose terrain would be too difficult. I mean like through the woods like natural rocks in the ground and then pebble filled paths that are covered in tiny rocks. I don’t want to do any crazy mountain biking just want to know if it could do it.

  13. Just bought this Electra Townie Go 7D Electric CruiserBike. This is my first E-bike. This was a great review thank you. So far the bike ride is super comfortable! Great bang for the buck!

I have the non ebike version and seeing this makes me want to upgrade.
Excellent bike and fun to ride.
Can only imagine that it would be just that much better with the assist.
