Surly Pugsley with BionX Kit Video Review – Fat Tire Bike with 350 Watt Electric Bike Kit

Surly Pugsley with BionX Kit Video Review – Fat Tire Bike with 350 Watt Electric Bike Kit The Surley Pugsley is a fat bike with enlarged tires for use on soft terrain such as sand and snow. In this review I’m testing out that bike with a BionX 350 Watt electric bike kit added. The kit offers a 48 volt 8.8 amp hour Lithium-ion battery pack that’s mounted to the downtube. It uses a gearless motor that’s very quiet and offers four modes of regeneration and regenerative braking. There are many choices for kits that can be added to the Surly Pugsley but this is the most common one that I’ve seen because it is durable and works with the wider bottom bracket (which many mid-drive kits will not). The LCD display can be used on the left or right handle bar and is removable along with the battery pack which is mounted on the downtube to keep weight low and center. 1. These look like the smartest electric-bikes I’ve seen yet, with their chubby tires and their ability to simplify things by eliminating heavy shock absorbing hardware to the bike. Excellent, guys! I’ll be looking for one of these under my Christmas tree this year…lol A double thumbs-up! šŸ™‚

  2. Iā€™m looking at a Surlyā€™s ā€œBig Fat Dummyā€and hoping to making it an E-Bike. Given its weight and ability to carry larger batteries what would you recommend?

  3. do they make the kit far a KHS 1000 fat bike?

  4. Dude, love your work!
    So helpful with your reviews!
I have a pugsley and am tossing up putting the bionx on it or buying the easy motion evo cross.
I need to commute 8km each way so im not sure…

  5. Hi, great review, but if you could, could you tell what the average range on this is. Ive checked this info online but i would like to know the actual numbers tested in real conditions. Thanks dude

  6. I like the kitĀ a lot but I hate the two mph requirement for the system to function.Ā  If I am going uphill on my trike with my trailerĀ and need to take off again I may not have the strength to get going. Thanks for the info.

  7. *Sweet bikeā‰–>**** If you don’t like talking to people then don’t buy this, because every time I ride people ask about it!*
