Too Fat To Cycle?
I’ll be the first person to admit that I am not your typical, young, skinny road cyclist but does that mean that I shouldn’t cycle?

Hey there. So I’m a 49 yrld dude. Used to cycle every where in my teens. Then life kinda happens and you get sucked into buying car after car. Bla bla. Anyways. Been back on my bike only three weeks now. Already tightening up and losing the blubber lol. But man oh man my butt is taking a hammering from the seat. I’ve put padding on it and even added foam under that. Seems I gotta invest in some tights hmmm? I’m 6ft 17dtone. Got a 40 waistline. What bloody size cycling shorts to I buy? Lol. Or should I just go for xxl and hope for the best? Lol thanks for help if possible

  3. Thank you. I weigh 285 lbs. Sadly I’m what every country thinks of an American, and I’m completely embarrassed. Tried a ton of stuff and failed. It’s time to try this.

  4. I have a question: I am very fat, but I would like to cycle anyway. The prob is I would love an entry level bike (I can’t afford an expensive one at the moment) but I can’t find anything under 500 pounds that for me is way much too expensive. The problem with the regular ones or even folding ones is the maximum weight you can put on. How can I get something trustworthy and cheaper? Thanks a lot!

  5. Your opinion is very inspiring and I couldn’t agree more!

  6. I’m over weight and am taking up cycling as well. Ride on friend and don’t give up!

  7. Subscribed! I appreciate you, you earned my respect.

Im not sure what friends groups you are in, but no one I know cares about how fat/skinny someone who rides in the group is. Who is saying that you shouldnt ride a bike???

  9. Thanks Leonard. This will be my go to video when inviting large riders to our group. Keep up the great work 👌

  11. I like to think I look less fat when I’m riding my fat bike

  12. Cycling is like joining a club, every cyclist started nodding morning to me when I begun

  13. I typed “bike riding for fat people” I’m really glad I did. Thank you!

  14. I’m a new fat cyclist. My saddle keeps tilting up despite me always tightening. Anything I can try?

  15. I’m 6ft tall and weigh 25st… can anyone point me in the direction of a mtb that can hold my weight

  16. Great video! I’m 61 with a double hip replacement and have been seriously biking for 3 years now. Full body weight workouts and a plant based diet round out my health routine. Both of my parents are diabetics and I just didn’t want to go there!

  17. I’m 6’1" 255lbs, which bike should I get? hybrid or a road/racer type bike? I’m 52 and really need to lose weight and get fitter. thanks, subbed.

  18. @ 0:38 😂

  19. I always think well of anyone i see exercising if they are overweight, it shows they want to be healthier and have the guts to tackle it no matter how they look, i walk and cycle but to be honest have not tried hard enough on my diet, going to have another go as it will make my activities easier.

  20. Good video and hilarious…lol

  21. You have inspired me a lot. Love from India 🇮🇳

I don’t think fat is any problem. In fact I think you look sexy in your weight.

  23. Emiliano 510 ひ February 7, 2021 @ 8:58 pm

The only bad thing is I get a lot of flats on my fixie and I weight 215 not even continental tired worked

  24. But Leonard, there are other things that matter.I cant watch the video and tell how much you weigh but most bikes have a weight limit that WE exceed. I’m not sure if you’ve made a video discussing bikes for heavier riders or not but if you havent PLEASE DO!

  25. Now! That is a great video !

    You’re just positive 😉

  27. im too fat to enjoy my life

  28. This is just the video I needed to see, I have just started riding about once a week trying to get my arse used to a saddle as it’s been far too many years. I realised how good just servicing my bike was on my mental health as we headed into lockdown and now I am getting the physical benefit as a 20+ stone man trying to make a change now I turned 40.

Where do you get your bib shorts from? There are so many options out there and don’t want to end up with some that are not up to the task in terms of chamois comfort and stitching.

    Thanks Ray

  29. Leonard – man, you are an inspiration to so many! Johnny here in Brasil! Thank you for sharing your story, tips on health and fitness. Your personal story resonates with people near and dear to me as they have been battling weight issues and trying to excercise. They oftentimes give up. One of my relatives was recently diagnosed with diabetes and is obese. We used to work out together – I hope he gets back out there again. I love cycling!

  30. I weigh 237lbs but Everytime I go on my bike the tire shrinks so I always get off it

  31. My bike, my ride.

  32. Gertjan Meulenkolk February 7, 2021 @ 9:08 pm

    Ride On, Good Job

  33. May i know what bike u use?

  34. Thanks for this video I am a new rider and overweight 5”8 nearly 18 stone. I’ve bought a decent bike and am enjoying it even the slightest climb is a struggle but I’ve put the effort in and am getting 39 miles a week going to and from work. It’s 39 miles I wasn’t doing before so it’s a win whatever way you look at it. Keep going looking forward to watching your progress 👍

  35. I can pedal for years if i had a good seat

  36. Mauricio Posada Gonzalez February 7, 2021 @ 9:13 pm

This video is immensely inspirational, Leonard. Thanks a million!

  37. Butiful video and a lot of inspiration in it.!! Thnx mate🙌🏻❣️👍🏻

  38. I was overly concerned about the way I look when going bicycling. Too fat, gross, etc. I was my worse enemy. A change in thinking and attitude changed the whole approach. Now I can’t have enough of it. Just having difficulty finding attire, thus I have to wear what I can find.

  39. Hey I’m 15 I am a bit fat what do you think I should take on riding

  40. Love it!

  41. If you’re overweight, don’t ever cycle ! Your extra weight will put pressure on your perinium and you will end up having erectile dysfunction. If you want to get into cycling, start jogging and lose weight ! And even if you fall from your bike you will have less injuries being thin. The heavier you are, more the pressure on your genitals.

  42. Patrick Jeremiah February 7, 2021 @ 9:25 pm

This definitely boosted me up. I am new to biking, and I also bought new jerseys that I can use whenever my friends and I bike. I am hesitant for they are fit for me even with a belly and handles. But I really have to ask myself if I’m wearing something for fashion or for the passion of riding these bikes. Thank you for making me realize that. In time, I know I can also lose weight but I also should not take away the fun of biking just because I dont look good in jerseys.

  43. WOW!! Brother, you inspired me to ride again. Keep going!

  44. I’m large as in larger than you. Walking is rough but I could deal with the joint pain if it weren’t for the legs rubbing together. There appears to be only one site that has compression/bicycle/spandex shorts in my size but they’re always out of stock.not sure what to do.

  45. Absolutely brilliant, thank you

  46. Hello, can you give me any recommendations on some bib shorts? I’m a big guy ass well and would like to know what works for you 🙂

  47. HeartsAngel Gaming February 7, 2021 @ 9:33 pm

Thanks man. Boosted my self confidence there.

  48. Leonard where can I find xxxxl cycle clothing

  49. Sharma Abhinav Kumar February 7, 2021 @ 9:35 pm
