  1. The 2.6” tires make a huge difference in loose over hard conditions, much more control. I put MT7 on mine and they don’t fade or howl on a steep downhill, like the Guides do. Had to switch to the HC3 lever. The stock lever is terrible if you have smaller hands.

Was thinking 2.6 magic Mary’s for my SL, so you were able get the 2.6 on the front but not the rear? I know specialized says 2.4 as the max. I’ve been riding the bike a lot and have to say brakes and tires would make it a much better ride. I’m coming off a full Haibike with 2.8s and miss the traction. Thanks for the video.

Hey Sam the video’s are great, your a natural. I’m 60 yrs old and just ordered my first Ebike, 2021 YT Decoy Elite! I live in Bend,Oregon a ride mostly downhill at the local bike park "mt Bachelor" I can’t wait to have a smile going uphill as well :))

  4. i recently went to a 2.6 schwalbe and love them much cushier on hard surfaces and a bit more control on trails.
One thing that i’m against is using GPS. it’s just a personal tic of mine . i find that riding without a gps , i am paying waaay more attention to where i’m going , making mental notes of prominent features like trees , boulders , curves , colors ,shapes etc. by doing this it is very easy to return on the same trail without getting lost
it only takes one trip on a new trail to memorize , while using a gps may take many trips to commit to memory .

I’d have been tempted to put a DH case or add an insert on the rear.
Interesting the inner tube looks like the Tubolito, nice emergency inner tube and i carry one along with the patch kit for it.. can you get a patch kit for the one in the video?

Doing disc brakes is actually pretty easy with the right tools and I’m sure watching the mechanic do it you’ll have picked up some tips.

Interested to hear how you get on with the Al Renthals.

  6. Can’t wait for the test ride!

  7. Bike Adventures March 1, 2021 @ 10:06 pm

Love geeking out on these upgrades! 😂

  8. Bret Thompsett March 1, 2021 @ 10:08 pm

    Sick video – great upgrades

  9. It’s impossible to get those 2.6 magic Mary’s in the UK atm

  10. Manufacturers sell a product at an attractive price to tempt buyers. Shiny eye catching paint work and graphics hide under specked kit.

  11. Imthemichaelphelpscantswim March 1, 2021 @ 10:14 pm

    clamped on the frame 😭

  12. Can this fit the 2021 Turbo Levo Comp?

  13. Hey Sam – Just spotted you on a website I was working on, a stock image of yourself drinking wine whilst using a laptop! Haha 🙂

  14. Antonio Latorre March 1, 2021 @ 10:19 pm

Just bought a levo and did almost same UPG. Magura brakes, wider 2.6 tyres (both) but missed the rebájales carbon bar (out of stock). Amazing results! Now grip and braking is amazing!

  15. Andrew Pastoral March 1, 2021 @ 10:26 pm

I thought you liked the Eddie Current’s better than the Magic Mary’s?

  16. Imthemichaelphelpscantswim March 1, 2021 @ 10:27 pm

I replaced sram guide re to MT7 on day one I bought my SL

  17. Of note, Schwalbe recommends against using that tube with sealant. Even as a spare. If you’re looking for a lightweight spare to care with you. Look at the at the Tubolito tubes.

  18. With cost off bikes being sky high, Why not pre spec a bike, they way you want instead of buying then changing it all up !

  19. Beautiful looking bike, I just bought a 2021 Levo SL carbon comp, and I definitely need to upgrade the brakes. Hoping you can ask your buddy mechanic if removing the rear brake cable requires any special instructions? Meaning, any internal cable ties that require loosening? Thanks.

  20. Pinoy MTB E-Bike March 1, 2021 @ 10:30 pm

Your mechanic looks like a Filipino?

  21. Rony Heroufosse March 1, 2021 @ 10:36 pm

love love love love the brakes …

  22. i9 stems are amazing. I have 2 of them.

  23. Micael Teixeira March 1, 2021 @ 10:38 pm

Unfortunately I have been off the bike for a while, I had 3 months in Portugal in the summer without a bike, but I made up for it with Surf, then I got home here in Germany and I had a flood, so the last 2 months were chaotic. But I have always accompanied you and you are doing a fantastic job from the beginning! It’s wonderful to see you grow and succeed! I hope to meet you in the future and have fun.
Do you think the MT7 is to much for this bike? Becase i love mine…
And i´m now 1 happy Official Legend Patreon. You forget to put the link in the description on this video.

  24. I really enjoy your videos so thanks. Do you know where the Eddy Current tyres are though? Can’t find any in UK although the Michelin E-Wild are available. Do you have any experience of these tyres?

  25. Alexander Guillen Ballester March 1, 2021 @ 10:43 pm

Dissapointed with your turboSL? After knowing about the New Orbea??

  26. Boggy Big pants March 1, 2021 @ 10:45 pm

Looking forward to your opinion on the Magura’s Sam 👍🇬🇧

  27. Great video always good to see what you come up with – I have 2 weeks ago put that Mary/Betty tire combo on my new 2021 Turbo Levo; 2.6 front and rear. Had to bring them in to New Zealand from Germany (r2-bike) as there was none around I could find in NZ. Only 100km so far on the Levo and it is taking some gettting used to, my other trail bike is a carbon Niner Jet with XTR componentry, so the weight difference…… But so far the tires are going good, just the rider needs to up his game. At least now I can keep up with my wife who has had a Levo since February :).

  28. Maguras brake as good as codes but codes do have a more faster bite indeed. Not a fan of the plastic levers and clamp though. Also – not one shop in my city had Magura 4pot pads in stock.

  29. Lee Charlesworth March 1, 2021 @ 10:48 pm

I love how much better the bikes look with the upgrades and always makes me think more about buying direct to get the better spec straight away.
