How to change a flat tire or tube on an electric bike with hub motor – 512-608-4090

A public service announcement from Electric Avenue Scooters in Austin, Texas describing how to change a flat tire or tube on an electric bike with a hub motor in its wheel. Shown here is an X-treme electric bike, but the details and precautions described also apply to many other electric bikes with a hub motor like A2B electric bikes, Felt electric bikes, Magnum electric bikes, e-bike conversion kits, and other mid- to low-priced electric bikes of differing quality.

  1. had a curb crash, am using an electric Ancheer folding bike. was very dark, my roads traffic lights do not signal for bikes unless a car is on the road because of weight limit of traffic lights so I was forced to use a sidewalk(which is not a bike trail) we live in a hick town, the cycle came on a low part of a curb that I thought was a clear ramp was only a lower curb, no clear ramp on that particular street. anyway, the front tire(not to do directly with video topic) hit going at around 10 mph. I don’t know what tube to use on an Ancheer electric folding bike this one, can’t find much info on this and no one will tell me. I don’t even know if I should just replace the whole mag wheel/tire assemby not just the tube. it hit pretty hard, but it only damaged the air valve stem(tangibly) I don’t know what intangible damage was done. I don’t know which tube to use on this bike, I do know the stem is rubber, that is why the thing got flat.

Is there a place where i can send my ebike rear wheel to be rewired ? The wires is in the Axle and the Axle is broke but the but the bike still rides smooth but just not the electric ??

  3. Wow, you skipped actually removing the wheel. Nice.

I just wanted to say thank you. The manual that came with the ebike did not show this.

  5. I live in Austin TX how much would i cost to bring my ebike up there

  6. The bike shown in the video is the one I own, an Extreme Scooters XB300-Li Trail Maker. The video covers the process well, and gave me the info I needed to change both tires on my bike in a little over an hour … saving me about $100 of fees from the bike shop (not mention the two weeks’ wait I’d have had to get the bike back). THANK YOU!

  7. you dont have to take the brake caliper off lol

  8. Good advice. But PLEASE when shooting video with a phone: ALWAYS USE THE PHONE HORIZONTALLY!

  9. Hey guys. There doesn’t seem to be a plug in my bike. The wire seems to go straight to the battery pack. I’m in the process of opening up the back but the screws are stripped. Any suggestions?

This is my bike being worked on in the video lol

  11. Newbie here. I was so happy to see this video pop up. And then you left me hanging. It is useless to do a how to video if you are going to remove the caliper without a close up, then cut to a shot with the tire already removed. You are not making this for us newbies. You made this for someone already knowing how to change a bike tire. Gave it a thumbs down in frustration.

I am here because my electric bike tire is flat.

  13. My eBike doesn’t have the middle connector in the line to the motor

What if you have a cable that goes into back wheel where bolt is…..I can’t find any plug to disconnect from motor?

  15. Thank you! you helped me alot guys/

sorry but next video maybe speak a little closer to the mic, can barely hear you

  17. Skipping past the entire part of how to take the wheel AND tire off makes this video frustrating and only partially useful. Thank you for what you did show, but it’s incomplete.

  18. David Shinabarger May 23, 2021 @ 2:35 am

Skipped past the most important part of the video where the wheel is actually removed lol

  19. Very good, step-by-step tutorial! Thanks!

  20. I do not recommend touching the disc brakes unless you know how to align it again.
