How to install a Brushless DC Controller on Ebike: The missing manual

In this video, I’ll show you how to install a brushless DC speed controller on an electric bike (Swagtron EB5). If you have an electric scooter, it would be the same process.

    You can get them for almost $10. The MOSFETs themselves are worth couple bucks. So buy 2 even cheaper Can’t beat it

  4. i have a question i have a gotrax ebe1 i want to upgrade make it as fast as possible what controller should i buy? is a more expensive one better… its a 36v battery 10ah 350 watt motor id like it to go 25 mph but 20 is ok it runs at 15 mph now

  5. In a video I was watching that white wire was a speed when it was in the scooter it’s a scooter was quicker I’m not sure if that is the same in your bike but it has no the function that you need

    Does a bigger like 5000 or 10000 w controller make the bike goes faster?

    Great video and explanation. I have recently bought two of the 250w 24v/36v controller to use on some repurposed hover board bloc motors and this has helped tremendously so thank you very much.

    Something that is more challenging is the plug types used on the controllers. I have searched high and low and cannot find anything definitive. If you do know the namestypes that would be appreciated. The bullet connectors I believe are 3.5mm type but it is molex (???) andor Dupont types I am struggling with to find.

    I have seen the automotivemotorcycle sets on eBay (380pcs) that look similar well the translucent white ones in any case but I cannot be sure of these.

  13. I am purchasing the controller you are discussing. Please advise the absolute simplest way ( fewest steps) to reverse the motor then returning to forward. YOU ARE THE BEST.

When I connect one of my 350w 36v controllers to my 350w 36v MXUS motor, it makes a lot of huge noise during working, while connecting another 350w 36v controller, my motor works softly and quickly. The first is done with the display S866. Other works together with a trottle without a display. What’s the problem in it? Thanks anyway.

  19. hi yes i like your video as me to dont speak or under stand chiness . . and i got a 500 wat 24 volt bruless scooter engine on a 3 wheel scooter that has brake / ligts and head lght and blinkers and reverse . and horn and low / hi speed . the controler i bought is a 500 wat 24 volt . has it were you can hook up power / moter / head light . / charger / brak / light .

    I think that this video can teach us how to figure out almost any controller wiring just by using your methods of voltage testing along with your explanations .
    It is amazing that you can figure it out blind folded (without information) and the Chinese quite often either have the wrong information or none at all.

I have a 250w rear hub motor, currently with a tiny battery (36v 7ah) I want to upgrade it to a bigger battery (48v 12ah)… I already know it is important to upgrade my current controller if I want to do this as it is only capable of 36v at the moment… is there any precautions I need to take so I don鈥檛 burn out my 250w motor? I really am a novice when it comes to this stuff… Please could you help me?

  36. So I have a bit of an issue and some questions,

    I bought a 48volt battery online and it measures 52.1Vdc
    Did I get a more powerful battery for less is is this common ?

    My motor controller is a 1000watt 48v unit

    I ohmed out each phase to the positive and ground and everything looks good, my motor ohms out nicely and when phases are crossed the motor locks as expected.

    The problem
    My controller acts dead when I give it juice, the battery acts as if its in some safe mode,

    When not connected to controller the battery acts fine, displays its 52 volts to the plug when on and zero when off

    Is my issue the voltage is too high and I should just buy a 52volt motor controller?

    Another thing is unplugging the throttle then plug it back in to the control to turn motor forward MAKE SURE YOUR EBIKE IS OFF when messing with wiring the bike can take off and hurt u or cause damage in your home after wiring the bike pick upthe bike by seat wheel is off the ground then turn it over to make sure its turning right direction watch out for the pedals if its going backward

    Brother my ebike , some control wire were demaged , I connect all the wire , one black wire , could not find where it was connected , it was other end to buzzer , but the end was open , could not see other end , so now the system can not turn on , my bike is Kankeleisi T8

    That green wire in the end of the video is one face cable too. Usual label instrument wire. Maybe show the km/h or mph in some display. I don’t know what kind of display have to be used for using this cable.

    how does one set controller for 3speed..if at full throttle it only will go 12klm..an hour..great vid..
